Savanna Georgia

We loved Savannah Georgia with the great waterfront area pretty boats pretty old buildings great antique shops 45 degree angle stairways. Savannah was so easy to be in lots of slow streets with great big mansion type home lots and lots of horse and buggy lots of little parks with ancient trees in them and easy to ride your bicycle anywhere

On the way to Atlanta we stumbled on a bluegrass festival that was fairly renowned it hadn't started yet and so the jamming was pretty modest but it was gorgeous and inexpensive I got to play a fair amount of music but sadly uh they were interested my song book and didn't share there's  very much lots of fun though

We went back to Homosassa this we as we waited for the old-time festival

Homosassa is such a great zoo we keep wanting to go back there anytime we get a chance the manatees we're in this time the wild life in general is just wonderful. The pictures we show you are just the tip of the iceberg. We watch a lot of blue hair in adults feeding babies. Lots of nests down here have babies ready to fledge. But we also see lots of birds with nesting material in their beaks.

Launching the whole be Islander

Takes quite a while to get the boat off of the vehicle and into the water but it was a great time. We sailed about 10 miles in about five hours. It's really quite an effortless type thing to do except for the peddling which is even better than riding a bicycle for me.

We made it to St Augustine

This is such a beautiful place with such great buildings and atmosphere. We have had a chance to ride our bikes around and walk the cool old streets. We also had a chance to put our new boat in the water today and had a great sail around the bay in front of St Augustine. Will show a video next off launching our new boat. Tonight we went to a restaurant that a new fiddle friend was playing  so it was quite a local type experience.

First Sunday contra dance Gainesville

This was a great dance and the band was a familiar one we had danced with in Orlando. We danced with the caller in Boca Raton. This dance in Gainesville has a great venue and frequently over a hundred dancers. Way fun and way welcoming.

Sergio tearing it up

Serge is a banjo player we met at the first Bluegrass Festival. We have since been with him about 6 times. He's really welcoming and really rips up old time as well as bluegrass.

FOTMC Florida old time music championships

We finally got to go to a festival. It was the Florida old time music championship and it was great. We met a few new friends. The banjo player I'm posting is an old friend from South Miami. His name is Serge for Sergio and he's really some kind of player . The hairdo and the parrot are just kind of local color.

Gainesville on Monday the first of April

Walmart has been good to us at night and on this day we went to Paynes Prairie preserve south of Gainesville Florida the pictures are of a dyke we rode our bicycles on for about 10 miles with alligators in beautiful water. Lots of birds and wild horses as well.
We headed into town for the evening Old English dance in Gainesville. We are new to this old English dancing but the people were helpful and very welcoming and we had lots of fun.
We are at Walmart again tonight and the Nightwatchman was very friendly.
