Heading north from miami

We left the contra dance and drove up past fort pierce. We stayed at sabastian state park and had a really fun sail on the Hobie. The next day we made cape canaveral. . The pics show pretty grass paterns and dot patterns in the cape canaveral sand
Peacocks on the neach. Lots of skimmers and caspian turns.  Gannets and pellicans and sea turtles.
We found cape canaveral to be affordable and it has lots to offer.

contra dance barnacle State Park Coconut Grove

No shots of us dancing but we had a great time. Interesting caller. This is Kurt home with dance with several times now and Francie showing us how they do the Irish dancing. On the small world scale I recognized a couple if this dance and when we introduced ourselves realize we had dance with them in Dallas and in Austin. Mimett Remind me that she used teach school in Idaho. She lived in Pocatello in 1980 I'm tired at Snake River....

more forklift boat storage

I would like to know how much it cost to have your boat taken from the shelf and set in the water like this. Also I wonder how much per month

forklift boat storage Coconut Grove Miami

There's a lot of this type of storage going on in the really crowded beach areas. They go 5 stories high and a lot of the boat you're pretty darn big

Coconut Grove bicycle ride Sunday

1 picture is of a trainer kite up in a tree. It was gusting to over 40 this is a pretty good size trainer Kite. These guys were taking big chances. I saw 1 of them climb up a palm tree to about 20 feet to free his kite. Lines  I had to leave because I thought he was going to fall off and die.
Some of the other pictures are of the bike ride through really beautiful neighborhoods. Some metal sculptures in yards and some pictures of a really nice beach park looking out at Key Biscayne Island. Amazing wealth in this old neighborhood. The dance that Sunday night was being held at the oldest building in Florida still on the original foundation.

irish dance demo at the contra dance

This was an Irish dance demo that happened after the contract dance. These are folks we have been dancing with in Florida for the last 2 or 3 dances.
Contra dance was small but fun. The venue was outside with a nice view of the ocean and wonderful Palm and mangrove all around. The music was piano and mandolin and the caller was very experienced.
And the small world category I recognize 2 people that we have danced with before. It turned out we danced with them in Dallas and in Austin. They live in Dallas and had flown to Fort Lauderdale and searched out the dance we were at. Harold and Mimet And she had worked For Snake River School District and lived in Pocatello Back in 1980.

south miami

We hung out around Miami for Saturday and attended the south Florida bluegrass jam at the fire station. Lots of fun and then we headed for South Miami for a contra dance on Sunday at the barnacle historical State Park. We spent all of sunday and that South Miami area called Coconut Grove. Rode our bikes all around to the marinas and the parks. This video is of the forklift storage strategy they use in these crowded marinas. They stack those big boats 5 stories high.

Snorkeling at John Pennekamp Key Largo

Besides looking for the boat to purchase we were able to stay in John Pennekamp coral reef State Park and Martha and I went snorkeling on the coral reef for the first time. Martha was a little trooper because she does not feel comfortable in the water. But there she was 50 yards from the boat bobbing up and down in the ocean with a face mask on looking at this gorgeous Coral right below us. We went to 3 dive spots. The 1 picture is of a rescued whippoorwill  bird that kept bumping into the boat so they rescued it with a net.

Saturday North Miami

Played music this afternoon with the South Florida Bluegrass Association. Lots of fun. Played at an old fire station.
Then we went to the beach for our evening cribbage game. The beach wasn't crowded and had gorgeous water and sand. Pretty big waves.

Also stuff

1 of the snorkelers didn't prepare for the Sun. The school bus was from maine and they shared the parking lot of Walmart with us. Different type a trip that involved cardboard signs and a lot of time on the corner. The lady holding stuff in her hands was taking 2 or 3 samples at a time actually all she could get at a time as she went from booth to booth in our last Costco. She was a woman with a mission

Purchase of Hobie tandem Mirage Islander

We went down to look at a single Mirage Islander that was on 07 model. It had issues that I didn't like so of course we were vulnerable to be sold a new 1 with no issues. We are very happy. The guy gave us a great deal and we now have a boat both of us can use and it's on the trip with us. It's big and hard to travel with but we have it figured out. The maiden voyage sailing it was wonderful.  lots of demo video on YouTube of it.

heading out to the coral reef to snorkel

We were leaving at 9 o'clock on the dolphin from John Pennekamp headed for the coral reef 7 miles offshore

Old time music jam in Miami

On our way back to Key Largo we stopped in the evening for a jam with the old time music scene from Miami. Very welcoming lots of familiar tunes lots of great musicians. Martha's holding a really cool dulcimer 1 fellow was playing.

Fort Pierce

We made it to Fort Pierce and I got to cut word in the ocean. I struggle in the ocean but I learned a few things and there were no catastrophes. We have a friend from the gorge named John plaster who spends each winter at Fort Pierce. We met friends of his on the beach but John was sailing south of us that day.
No pictures of the kite boarding only pictures of sprinter trucks I keep looking into for motorhome conversion.
The next day we drove back to Key Largo to look at a kayak sailboat combination

Sunday contra dance Boca Raton

The sunday dance was kind of a Saint Patrick's Day theme and lots of fun. The band played a lot of Irish and the calling was first class. The caller is moving to the Monterey Bay Area so we should get to see him in the future.

Good by keys. Hello Miami Beach

Little too much sun for someone. We drove into North Miami and stayed at Oleta River State Park for the day. WE rode our bikes about 12 miles  into Miami South Beach. Very wild an interesting scene at South Beach. Art Deco architecture add a party crowd that's over the top seemingly everyday. Lots of cool neighborhoods and lots of cool bike paths on the way in. The 12 miles back to the vehicle was much faster on city street bike lanes. Easy to boondock in this part of Miami at a Walmart Home Depot combination.

Key west

Key West is a great little town to hang out in. martha is posing in front of the farthest south buoy. Lots of places use these cool old trucks for advertising. The tan guy is standing on the beach in a string bikini... OMG... we signed up to go snorkeling on that great big catamaran. The wind came up and they decided not to go out to the reef so we are going to wait for a different ride.
